Start by reading some of our favorite places to celebrate the new year in the world. Then grab your friends, put on your most festive outfit, and head out and make some memories.
If NYE 2017 was a little disappointing for you, good news: it’s not too late to start planning the perfect way to welcome 2018.The best place to celebrate the new year in the world
how can you do that
1. London, England
2018 is shaping up to be an epic year across the pond, including the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which is scheduled for May 19.
So it makes sense that this city is ready to kick off the year with one of the best New Year’s Eve parties on the planet. You may have heard that Big Ben has officially been silenced until 2021, while it undergoes some much-needed repairs.
However, if you haven’t heard the clock’s famous chime yet, New Year’s Eve will be your last chance for a while. The clock strikes midnight for the first time in months and then falls silent again (no word yet on whether it will chime for the royal wedding.)
Of course, that’s not all.
London’s world-famous New Year’s Eve fireworks will also take place directly behind Big Ben. For the best results, try to get some tickets or simply book a luxury hotel and watch the show from your balcony.
But all true party lovers know that the fun doesn’t start until midnight!
Book an overnight boat cruise on the River Thames, take a ride on the Ferris wheel to see the city from above, or even ice-skate with family and friends at the Canary Wharf ice rink.

2. Edinburgh, Scotland
You don’t like London? Looking for New Year’s Eve parties that are a little less crowded, but definitely no less fun and wild?
If so, then you just need to get to Edinburgh. Spend NYE day participating in what the Scots call Hogmanay, a festival commemorating the last day of 2017.
Countless musical performances, street performances, and much more await you. You’ll probably even learn a few steps of the traditional Scottish ceilidh dance (but don’t worry, no kilts are required to participate.)
There are parades, great opportunities for street food, and even excellent shopping. When it’s time for the clock to strike twelve, we suggest you and your loved ones steal a spot at the top of Carton Hill. You’ll be able to watch all the action from the top, which is much less crowded than the Scottish streets.
Want to start the year off right?
If so, be sure to check out the annual Dogmanay Bobsleigh race and bet on your favorite pets!
3. Vancouver, Canada
They’ll also help stave off the infamous New Year’s Eve hangover by serving up world-famous food to power you through the night.
Want something a little different?
If so, be sure to try Vancouver’s premiere sushi restaurant and event space, Hapa Izakaya. Feast on udon, tempura, shrimp, and more until the sun comes up.
If you want to keep your New Year’s Eve parties more on the private side, then be sure to contact them about booking a private room. You can also head to the rooftop, enjoy the art with a cocktail, and dance until the sun comes up.
4. New York, USA
What you may not know, however, is that there is much more to the city that never sleeps than the famous Times Square ball.
Take advantage of NYC’s reputation for international cuisine and head to the National Ukrainian Home Restaurant.
You will be able to order bottles of vodka, eat homemade cabbage and pies and meet friendly locals in an authentic setting. Then head to one of New York’s epic bars like Please Don’t Tell, which is disguised as a hot dog shop.
But don’t forget to book in advance because you need to know the secret code to get in! When you arrive, order the waffles and bacon fries.
After all, your New Year’s weight loss goals may be delayed by one more day.
